Lovers Cough
02:50
|
|||
If I could take all my confusion
by the wrist in the dead of night
I'd lead it back to where it came
It's good without ghosts sometimes
No freezing lows no burning highs
As static as the day is long
But with a sweet and subtle tease
one could gladly bend to knees
And with kind familiar breath
she could ask him what he meant
And she asked him what he meant
(relieve our grief)
So he'd hold her in the morning
as the sunlight shattered sleep
Seems no one quite knows how to be
Could be life's a row of closing doors
where lovers cough and ask for more
and fumble for the door they need
But there are no pledges involved
in solitude due to anyone
And if we bury it so deep
there's no telling how much sleep
we'd save at all.

Used to be kids
04:10
|
|||
Love in all its messiness hurtling toward something
we all used to be kids
Two people one voice stuttering only to itself
who came up with this?
We spend most of our time dying
or not yet born
So why waste the middle part crying
or harboring scorn?
A master of supplication her head ain't the first
to rest on this arm
Half-open eyes grinning honestly her face was the calm
before the storm
Love in all its messiness hurtling toward something
we all used to be kids
Two people one voice stuttering only to itself
who came up with this?
She asked "when are you gonna get out
of your own way?"
I mumble some plastic placation about "someday."
But the mirror had cracked before I did
and we were broke before we even started
she said "time had antagonized our shit"
and it was funny for a minute then I realized it
if you try to bleed love from a stone you should quit
and I loved you cause I knew you
you hate me cause I knew me
we all used to be kids

Work Friend California
Spencer Hannemann
Jon O'Brien
Brandon Osorio
Alex Teubert
Mixing feel-
good sonic sunshine with wonderfully raspy vocals seems to be the perfect combination for California based indy rock band, Work Friend. I can’t stop listening to this unassuming stunner. Album opener “Any Good” is the perfect open road song to help soundtrack your summer-to-autumn transition in style.
